Our Story
Kakadu Organics is doing something truly extraordinary. By supporting female entrepreneurship and artists from rural and remote communities across Australia, we are not just promoting native foods and wellness - we are also nurturing cultural richness and empowering women to thrive. Our give-back program inspires First Nations women with opportunities to overcome hardship and engage deeply in culture, arts, and business. This commitment to creating meaningful change and fostering resilience speaks to a profound dedication to both community and individual empowerment.
About Kakadu Organics
At Kakadu Organics, we believe in the power of community, culture, and connection to the land. As an Aboriginal-owned, female-led business, we are on a mission to share the beauty and wisdom of native botanicals while empowering First Nations women to thrive in business. Every product we create is more than just an offering—it’s a piece of our heritage, a celebration of our ancestors, and a pathway to a brighter future for our communities.
Our Story
Kakadu Organics was founded by Kylie-Lee Bradford, a proud Aboriginal woman from the heart of Kakadu, Northern Territory. Growing up in a small community, Kylie-Lee witnessed the strength, resilience, and knowledge of the women around her. Inspired by their wisdom and determined to create meaningful change, she began her journey with Kakadu Tiny Tots in 2016, crafting organic baby clothing featuring art from the Kakadu Region. That small idea grew into something bigger—a dream of cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and sharing the beauty of native foods and wellness products with the world.
Today, Kakadu Organics is not just a business. It’s a movement—rooted in tradition, driven by a love for our culture, and powered by the vision of First Nations women supporting each other. We produce wild-harvested, organic native foods, bush medicine, and wellness products, all infused with the wisdom of the land. As we grow and expand our reach globally, we stay grounded in our purpose: to uplift and support our communities while honoring the natural world.
First Nations Women Supporting First Nations Women
At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to empowering other First Nations women. We believe in the strength of women helping women, in the power of shared knowledge, and in the importance of standing together. Through Kakadu Organics, we offer business coaching and mentorship programs to help Aboriginal women in rural and remote communities realize their potential and build successful enterprises. Whether it’s one-on-one coaching or helping businesses become export-ready, we are walking alongside these women as they step into leadership roles, grow their businesses, and make their mark on the world.
Giving Back to Our Communities
We know that when women rise, entire communities rise with them. That’s why a portion of every purchase from Kakadu Organics goes back to supporting Aboriginal women, fostering entrepreneurship, and preserving cultural knowledge. We are more than a business; we are a family of women working together to create lasting change. Our give-back programs provide not just economic opportunities, but the chance to pass on traditions, stories, and wisdom to future generations.
Honoring the Land and Protecting Culture
Our products are crafted with care, using sustainable wild-harvesting methods that respect the land and its delicate ecosystems. We are proud of our cultural roots and are passionate about protecting the intellectual property of our bushfoods and the cultural knowledge that surrounds them. As we continue to learn about bushfood IP and cultural IP, we are committed to ensuring that First Nations communities are at the forefront of these discussions, safeguarding our heritage for generations to come.
A Global Reach, A Local Heart
Kakadu Organics has already begun its journey into the global marketplace, exporting to Singapore and engaging in exciting discussions with the UK. But no matter how far we go, our heart remains firmly in the communities where we started. We are dedicated to helping other First Nations businesses reach international markets, showcasing bushfoods and cultural wisdom to the world.
Join Our Journey
We invite you to join us on this journey—one that is built on the strength of First Nations women supporting each other, creating opportunities, and preserving our heritage. Every purchase from Kakadu Organics is a step toward a more sustainable, empowered future for our communities. Together, we can uplift one another, honor our culture, and share the beauty of Kakadu with the world.
Thank you for being part of our story. Together, we are creating something truly special, one product, one woman, and one community at a time.
